Wizard of Oz

27th January 2017

Toto: "I’ve got a feeling we aren’t in Melbourn any more."

Come and join the students and staff of Melbourn Village College as we follow the yellow brick road with Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion in search of the Great and Powerful Oz.

Over the past two terms more than forty students have been rehearsing hard to present the Royal Shakespeare Company's version of The Wizard of Oz. Previous fantastic productions have included Fiddler on the Roof, Grease and last year's Oliver. This year pupils from Years 7 to 11 have been polishing up their American accents as well as their ruby slippers, whilst the student-led stage crew look forward to working on the show to provide the audience with a glittering extravaganza worthy of the land of Oz. This is a truly college-wide production, as students and staff from across the school have worked tirelessly alongside the actors to create sets and props that will bring everywhere, from Munchkin Land to the Emerald City, to life.

Performances run each night from Wednesday 8th February to Friday 10th February and tickets are available in advance by contacting the college reception. Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for concessions. The tornado touches down at 7pm. We invite you to join us because, whilst there is no place like home, we’d like to take you on a little journey first.
