The Class of 2017 Prom
3rd July 2017
Melbourn Village College said farewell to their class of 2017 with a spectacular Enchanted Forest evening at the school.
Students, immaculately dressed in beautiful ball gowns and smart suits, arrived in all manner of vehicles from an Army soft-top truck and a camper van to vintage and sports cars.
They were greeted by staff – also smartly dressed – and parents before heading into the hall to celebrate the end of exams and also mark the end of five years at MVC.
After a delicious buffet laid on by the school’s catering team, students had the chance to have their photos professionally taken then listened to speeches from the Head Prefects and members of staff, including a toast to their time at the college and their future.
Awards, voted for by the students themselves, were handed out by retiring maths teacher Victor Wainwright and the tables were cleared to allow everybody to dance the night away.
“The Prom is the final set piece event as we say farewell and good luck to our Year 11s and the students certainly looked amazing,” said Principal Simon Holmes. “The turn-out from the village to welcome them was fantastic as always and the evening was a great success. Luckily most students arrived before the downpour and, unlike some of the staff, their parents were well prepared with umbrellas!”
