SLT Update September 8
8th September 2017
Senior Leadership Weekly Round-Up – 8th September 2017
- A huge congratulations once again to all our year 11 students, who did extremely well in their GCSEs examinations. We wish you all the best, whatever you have chosen to do – we always want to know your future successes, so please keep in touch (include photos for our Somebody Amazing posters!).
- I hope you have enjoyed the long summer break despite the changeable weather! Some of our students have been very busy in their chosen sports and congratulations go to Will Mallen in year 11, who attended an athletics competition in Barnett and jumped a personal best in the triple jump of 12.56m; this was a personal best for him, a school record and a 3rd place in the competition. Will was also competing against people 2 years older than him.
- Also competing this summer was Jake Moxham in year 11, who gained a bronze in the 100m freestyle and a silver in the 4x100m relay with fellow team mates from the City of Cambridge in the British swimming nationals. Excellent achievements and well done to all.
- All the best to Sophie Willis who will be competing with her horse T-J in the three day National Horse Veteran Championships at Grantham.
- We are always happy to hear about your child’s achievements out of school. Contact Alison Friday at afriday@melbournvc.org.
- All enrichment activities will start the week beginning 18th September. All information has been sent out through school post. Please sign up to as many activities as possible. The enrichment bus will still be running and free of charge but places are limited.
- Mrs Hallam and the year seven team are thrilled with the positive start made by our new students. They seem resilient and enthusiastic, which is very encouraging. Well done to our fantastic team of new prefects, who have been helping them get to know the school routine this week.
- Note for parents of new students: next week, year seven will be having lunch at the usual time of 1pm.
- Foxton are once again hosting their annual scarecrow festival on Saturday 7th October. This is a whole village event and fun to attend or if you are feeling creative…make a scarecrow. Contact glenda.spry@hotmail.com for further information.
- An opportunity to join a performing arts company for 6 to 18 years at Chesterton Community College. Details can be found at www.tehatretrain.co.uk. Email: cambridgenorth@theatretrain.co.uk. Tel: 07961426438.
