Senior Leadership Weekly Round-Up
• Earlier this week, a number of students took part in the second round of the UK National maths challenge. Congratulations and good luck to Gethin Rogers, Ben Woodrow, Rosie Elliott, Sam Bream and Henry Kay.
• On Thursday 7th June, Vicky Kay travelled to Cambridge to help the Sports Partnership out with their Quadkids competition. She was highly praised for her organisation and motivational skills. Well done Vicky. Congratulations also go to Emily Jelley who has gained a place in the county netball team.
• On Thursday 14th June, 9 sports leaders went to Whittlesford Cricket Club to help out with the SSP yr 5/6 kwik cricket competition. They were an excellent help to the organiser who was very complimentary about their leadership skills.
• On Friday 15th, 16 yr 9 sports leaders were trained by the SSP staff in preparation for the Tag Rugby Finals due to take place next week.
• Lots of athletics practice is taking place for the Olympic Cup due to take place at St. Ives next Wednesday. The year 7 netballers have been training for the L3 Summer Games Finals that take place on the 28th June. Good luck to all taking part!
• Well done to all those in years 8 and 9 who did the Language Perfect World Championships, including certificates for Kayla Dudley and Alfie Egmere in Year 8, Isabel Taylor, Gabrielle Phillips and Vicky Kay in Year 9.
• Every year Dr Wilson challenges his Chemistry students to perform the Periodic Table song by Tom Lehrer in front of the class, without hesitation, repetition or mistakes. The reward is a very large bar of chocolate. Millie Coventon, in 8M3, performed the song perfectly in front of the class and her prize is on the way!
• Early notice that the Summer Music Concert will be on July 11th. Tickets will be on sale very soon. In the meantime, please see this link for an exciting opportunity for any young jazz musicians. Should you require any further information please visit https://www.cambridgejazzfestival.info/cyjo
• A reminder that our Yr11 Art exhibition at the Plough, Shepreth, runs from the 15th June to 4th July. The work is exceptional and it is well worth a visit.
• And finally, please remember that Friday, June 22nd, is a school training day and that students are not expected in school on that day.
Have a good weekend,
Simon Holmes
