Senior Leadership Weekly Round-Up
January 26th 2018
ï‚· On Tuesday we hosted 120 year 4 pupils from six local primary schools; Melbourn, Fowlmere, Foxton, Harston & Newton and Hauxton. They experienced lessons in Mandarin, PE, English and Music, supported by Yr11 prefects and some Yr7 Mandarin helpers.
ï‚· This week we welcomed two visitors from other schools who are taking part in the SSAT Leadership Legacy Programme (LLP). As part of the programme they spend some time shadowing Senior Leaders in successful schools and we were delighted to be able to showcase all the exciting developments taking place at MVC and the good practice that happens across the college every day.
ï‚· Year 9 and 10 students preparing to go on the CERN trip later this year met this week to discuss travel arrangements and itinerary, as well as high energy physics!
ï‚· A trio of Trust staff are in China this week looking to begin the process of partnering with a school in Beijing. Their week-long trip was funded by the Chinese Government and we hope to build successful links which will benefit students across all of our schools.
ï‚· Today I hosted a visit from Heidi Allen MP. Amongst other things we discussed our involvement in the Mandarin Excellence Programme and the work we are doing in Science in association with TTP. I thanked her for her efforts in trying to convince her Conservative colleagues to improve funding and urged her to continue the fight!
ï‚· On Thursday we were visited by the 2484 Bassingbourn Air Cadets Squadron. Any Yr 8 or 9 student who would like to find out more can visit http://2484aircadets.org / and/or attend their open evening on Wednesday 7th February.
Have a good weekend,
Simon Holmes
