SLT Update January 18th
20th January 2019
- Our exciting iPad trial has now started, with all staff and 3 Year 7 groups trialling how the use of iPads can enhance learning both in and out of the classroom. The aim is that all Year 7 students will then get their iPad when they are in Year 8, so those students who are not in the trial need not worry. More information on what they are up to soon.
- The U14 and U16 boys finished their basketball league matches yesterday. They have had a mix of results this year, with the Year 9s beating Parkside, Swavesey and Comberton whilst the 11s beat Comberton and Impington. Well done to all the boys involved. Next week some Year 10&11 students are going to Bassingbourn VC to play various sports in preparation for their GCSE practical exam later this term.
- Our Spring enrichment programme started this week; please do encourage your son / daughter to participate in an activity – it’s not too late to sign up.
- Thank you to all year 11 parents and carers who attended Parents’ Evening on Tuesday. We hope you found it useful and we wish all our year 11 students all the best with their GCSE revision.
- We had another successful PSHE day on Tuesday, with all year groups doing a wide variety of activities, ranging from how to support one’s own and others’ mental health to inventing, marketing and selling a new product or service. This is always a great chance to welcome visitors to the College and we really appreciate all the time and effort they put in for our students.
- For the past 18 months, I have been MFL cluster lead for a SSIF (Strategic Schools Improvement Fund) project, working predominantly with Hartford Junior School and Stukeley Meadows Primary School to improve their KS2 provision. Today, I have enjoyed a day at Stukeley Meadows teaching KS2 and discussing MFL teaching methodology. These chances to share practice are always beneficial to all professionals involved.
