Senior Leadership Weekly Round-Up
ï‚· Enrichment has started in earnest this week. Over 300 students have signed up for one or more of the 51 activities on offer. It’s fantastic to see so many people getting involved. A reminder please that if you need transport home after Enrichment that Mrs Reeves is made aware: lreeves@melbournvc.org. We have a limited number of places and need to organise transport carefully according to the level of need.
ï‚· On Wednesday 10th January, 3 students attended the first inter school gymnastics competition held in this area. Alice Frewin, Amber McCarthy and Carmen Vicencio travelled to North Cambridge Academy to compete. Amber came 5th out of 30 competitors and Alice came 11th in the elite category. Carmen won the novice category. Congratulations to all the girls. It was a very high standard of gymnastics.
ï‚· The Basketball team also achieved an excellent result on Wednesday night, beating Comberton 39-33 in a closely fought contest. This fixture provided excellent preparation for their tournament next week. There were outstanding performances from Jack Jarman and top scorer, Jasper Bridges.
ï‚· We were delighted to find out this week that former student Amy Selby, currently studying at Comberton Sixth Form, has been offered a place at Newnham College, Cambridge, to study Natural Sciences. Congratulations to her for her dedication and hard work.
ï‚· As you may be aware, we have been generously given £100,000 by TTP to support Science education over the next two years. A small amount has been used to purchase GCSE revision guides for all Year 10 students, providing them with a guaranteed revision resource.
ï‚· Ski trip students need to have brought their passport and EHIC cards in by Monday 15th January at the very latest. Students who have hired clothing should come to collect it on Tuesday after school from the Common room.
ï‚· Please see the poster below for a local parent to parent support group in case of interest.
Have a good weekend,
Simon Holmes
