Message from Mr Bennet

4th September 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the new school year at MVC.  As always, a new school year brings excitement and changes with students being introduced to new routines, new expectations, new staff members and updated resources.

I must apologies for the communication issues which are currently arising, and this is due to the software system that we use to take registers, store student information and send some communications to parents having changed over the holiday period.  The changeover has encountered a few problems along with some network issues, and as a result, staff have not been fully trained.

However, on a more positive note, our students have arrived at school and started their lessons, with our bus drivers adapting to new routines and timings of the school day.

Can I reassure parents that despite the challenges that some parents may have faced accessing ‘Parent Pay’ all of our students were able to access a school lunch.  I can confirm that the issue with ‘Parent Pay’ has now been resolved.

The start of the school year is an obvious time to introduce change, and with the support that we have received from parents the change in the school skirt has been a great success with students wearing the correct uniform.  This is encouraging to observe and again I thank parents for their on-going support.  As of today, our students and staff are working to the longer school day, as required by Department of Education.

As part of our ethos, we continue to train our teaching staff to develop their classroom practices along with their skills as form tutors.  Changes have been implemented on how we support students who find coming into school more challenging, along with the changes in authorising student absence from school.  I believe that the changes to the rules that we must follow as part of the Department of Education guidelines has raised some questions from parents, but please be assured that we have tried to address these issues quickly and effectively.

I look forward to keeping you updated on how we will continue to evolve as our aim is to support all of our young people to become ‘successful adults of the future’.
