Dash round Docklands
2nd July 2019
Year 9 students who are interested in taking Geography at GCSE were given a taste of the subject with a day in London’s Docklands.
They started at the ExCel Centre looking at land usage and the proximity of London City Airport to the heart of the capital before a cable car trip over the Thames gave them the chance to admire the London skyline.
Then it was on to the Cutty Sark and looking at prime development before a stop at the Olympic Park and a well-earned break for lunch at the Westfields shopping centre.
Caroline Deadman, one of the staff on the trip, said: “A special well done to the DofE students who, after a hot practice expedition at the weekend, managed to keep up with Mr Barnes despite blistered feet and exhaustion – that’s no mean feat!”
