Welcome to Melbourn Village College. I have had the privilege of working in this school for five years and have loved every moment of my time here. We are a small school, and our staff try to get to know every child as an individual, to not only teach them their subjects but to help them to grow into wonderful young adults, ready to embark on their chosen paths at the age of sixteen.
We welcome the involvement of parents and carers, both to support their own children through their five-year educational journey, and to work with us to improve the school community for the benefit of all pupils.
We are a fully-inclusive, comprehensive secondary school. We encourage all our pupils to welcome peers from all backgrounds, of all abilities, nationalities, languages and religions, and to celebrate our differences.
The school is on a journey of improvement and every person in the school community knows how important their role is – our teachers deliver well-structured and thought-out programmes of study, our learning assistants support children with additional needs to be successful in every lesson and our associate staff provide excellent pastoral care and administrative support to drive the school forward.
We aim to be a phone-free school so that pupils can concentrate on the learning that takes place in school time and ask that parents support us in this endeavour by encouraging their child to leave their phone at home and, when this is not possible, by asking their child to turn off their phone during school hours. If you need to contact your child, or vice versa, this can be achieved by contacting the school’s Reception team.
We hope that you will support us in all that we do, for the benefit of the whole school community.
